My “Working From Home” Space

On some days I am still in denial about the reality of life right now. In my head, I still ask myself if we working from home and getting with life as if it been now what it is for decades.

It’s day 87 of lockdown in South Africa and what life used to be, honestly seems like a taboo now.  Going to the shops feels like trespassing and the distance between customers in the shop has gained so much importance and I’m thankful for the latter. I never thought being outside would be such a big deal, I even miss the long line at KFC whilst waiting for crispy my crispy wings. I mostly miss the market on Saturdays, I wish I had had more fun and ate more food back then.

Anyway, a few weeks into this new and temporary life I created a workspace in our apartment. A simple well put space in our small place to escape and focus. Working from home can be a task on its own, so a workspace helps you dedicate yourself and concentrate. Personally I struggle with concentrating when I work from the couch or bed, I end up browsing stuff I can’t afford online or watching movies, so an assigned working area really helps.

When I was creating this space, I used what we already had at our place so no new purchases were made, yay! I took small decor items that could fit on the desk and still give me enough room to work and I added a small succulent plant for freshness. I like a clean and fresh look, everything for me needs to be aesthetically pleasing, all the time.

I’m proud of this little corner. Each morning I have meetings here and do most of my work here and by most I mean 80%.  I also took a day to finish off my vision board, which I’ve added to my workspace for Motivation.

Enjoy and be inspired
