I spend most of my Saturdays at the Neighbourgoods Market, downtown Johannesburg, helping out my partner with his side hustle Rural Love Classics. That place is insanely cold, even in summer. It could be the way it’s built or just anxiety build up (to make better sales than the previous weeks) that creeps into us and makes us stone cold, i really don’t know. Normally I just look decent, but on this particular day I felt like looking nice, like I made an effort, bar the other days of just layering because, well, I’ll be working and the aim is to be as warm as I can be.
Nothing hectic, just simple street winter wear, my boyfriend’s beanie and shoes, all inspired by Korean winter fashion. We event met a lady, Liz, from New York, who went crazy over our style, asked for few snaps and posted one of us on her Instagram. She says “I always tell people that South Africa does have a nice side to it, a great culture and stylish people, end you both look just the part. Please let me take a picture so I can show them that Johannesburg has cool, friendly and stylish people.”
